Weekend Confessions: Balancing the Reset, the Soul, and the Strategy
By: Carolyn Wright
Even if your blog is heavily business-oriented, your readers still love to know what happens behind the scenes. After all, business is done by real people, not robots. A common question entrepreneurs face is: Do you actually take the weekend off, or do you use it as a giant catch-up day?
For me, the answer is a little bit of both. My weekends are a careful blend of an intentional household reset, spiritual grounding, and proactive planning that sets my entire upcoming week up for success.
Here is exactly what a weekend looks like in my world.
Saturday: The Physical and Mental Reset
Saturdays are strictly dedicated to clearing out the clutter—both in my home and in my head.
- Decluttering and Deep Cleaning: I start the day by tackling the physical environment. Cleaning and organizing my space acts as an immediate stress reliever. A tidy environment directly correlates to a focused mind when Monday morning rolls around.
- Guilt-Free Relaxation: Once the chores are done, the afternoon and evening are reserved for pure downtime. You can find me completely unwinding and relaxing while catching up on movies. This screen time requires zero business strategy—just pure entertainment and comfort.
Sunday: Faith, Food, and Future Focus
Sundays shift the focus from physical maintenance to spiritual alignment and strategic preparation.
- Spiritual Grounding: My Sunday mornings start with Sunday school and church. This time centers my focus, connects me with my community, and provides the spiritual renewal needed to handle whatever challenges the upcoming week brings.
- Social Media Mapping: Later in the day, I switch back into a light business mode. I sit down to map out the weekly planning for all of my social media platforms. By scheduling posts, drafting captions, and organizing content ahead of time, I eliminate daily operational panic during the workweek.
- Meal Prep and Planning: Finally, I map out our meals for the week. Knowing exactly what we are eating saves hours of weekday decision fatigue and keeps our nutrition on track.
The Secret to Weekend Productivity
The takeaway here is that you do not have to choose between a 100% hustle weekend or a 100% lazy weekend. By dedicating Saturdays to cleaning and entertainment, and Sundays to faith and forward planning, I step into Monday morning feeling completely rested, organized, and ahead of the game.
How about you? Do you completely unplug on the weekends, or do you use Sundays to get a head start on your week? Let me know your routine in the comments!
